Mediation

Family Mediation
Family Mediation is a service offered by Scott Bailey as an alternative means for couples to resolve problems following the breakdown of their relationship.

Why use Family Mediation?
When facing separation or divorce both parties will want arrangements for the future to be fair and workable. Family mediation helps couples take control of their situation and work things out together co-operatively. Mediation can help you reach a lasting settlement which is fair to both parties - whilst at the same time being a far cheaper process than fighting the matter through the Courts.

Mediation is voluntary. You must both agree on solutions or there can be no settlement. Either of you can leave the mediation process at any time if you are not happy with it. Both of you are partners in the decision making and you both control the issues to be addressed. You do not have decisions imposed on you by outside sources.

How Does it Work?
A trained Mediator who is a neutral third party assists you and your partner (or former partner) to discuss and resolve any issues connected with separation or divorce. The Mediator helps you to identify all the issues that need to be resolved at this time which may include: care of and contact with children, financial support, housing and property.
Mediators do not take sides or make the decisions for you. You are helped to gather all the relevant information and to consider the options open to you negotiating mutually beneficial terms in complete privacy. The process is a mutual search for a reasonable solution - there should be no losers.

What Areas Does Mediation Cover?
Mediation can cover either particular limited issues if this is specified at the start or will deal with any issue arising from marriage or relationship breakdown. This will often include reaching mutually acceptable arrangements for future parenting where children are involved.

It is a process that can work for you at any stage of a separation even when court proceedings have started. Mediation offers an effective alternative to expensive and lengthy court proceedings
