A team of 16, including partners, lawyers and admin staff from Scott Bailey LLP are climbing Pen y Fan – the highest peak in the beautiful Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) at 886m on Saturday 14th October – in order to raise money for SCARF, which is a charity close to our hearts. One or two of our team are experienced mountain leaders, but for most, a stroll up Lymington High Street is about as much as they normally do, so it will be a challenge to get the whole team to the top of a mountain for the very first time! We might even bring them all back down and hope that we finish with the same number we started with!

Scarf (Supporting Children with Additional Needs, Relatives and Friends) is a charity based in the New Forest, Hampshire, that organises regular term-time clubs as well as holiday activities for children with additional needs and their families. Children/young people are aged 0–25 years and have a range of disabilities and special needs, such as Down’s Syndrome, autism and cerebral palsy.

Their approach is not just to meet the needs of the disabled child but also to recognise the impact on the whole family, all of whom need fun and support.

They aim to create an inclusive and welcoming environment in which disabled children and their siblings feel comfortable and are able to participate in a wide range of activities, and where adults and carers can enjoy meeting others in similar situations to themselves.

The term-time clubs include a Drama Club, a Youth Club and a Saturday morning Multi Sports Club. During the school holidays, they run a full programme of activities for the whole family to take part in. Just £20 provides a holiday activity session for a child with additional needs, e.g., climbing or canoeing; £50 pays for a sports coach delivering a morning of sports sessions at the Saturday Multi Sports Club; and £100 covers the cost of delivering a Youth Club session for 15 young people with disabilities.

Every contribution makes a difference and the whole team at Scott Bailey appreciates your support and donations to this worthwhile cause.
