Our IT Solicitors assist both SaaS providers, and business end-users, providing legal advice on a range of cloud based applications. Our expertise helps suppliers and developers design appropriate and proportionate agreements that protect their interests in a commercially sensible way. For customers, we can identify risks, advise on service levels, and assess third party IP rights as well as other areas of risk in the legal documentation and situation. What is SaaS? How to choose a solicitor or legal advisor
In many ways, choosing a solicitor or legal advisor is like choosing a mechanic. When it comes to cars, few of us (excluding any serious petrolheads) consider ourselves experts, so when we take our car into a garage, we must trust the mechanics to be honest and capable. To be on the safe side, most people will do a bit of research before choosing a garage, including asking friends or family for recommendations, looking at reviews, or checking the credentials of garages in their area. Picking a solicitor or legal advisor is similar. Understanding our legal system requires extensive training and expertise, and as a result, clients must often trust their legal representatives to act in their best interests and represent them effectively. However, while picking the wrong mechanic may leave you out of pocket, the consequences of choosing the … Continue reading

Hugh Grant case settled after risk of Part 36
Hugh Grant has accepted a part 36 offer in the midst of legal action against the Rupert Murdoch-owned newspaper The Sun, after he claimed a journalist had tapped into his phone and burgled his house. Grant has accepted ‘an enormous sum’ from the newspaper after he claims he could not afford to turn it down. The case was due to go to trial in January 2025 alongside other high-profile individuals such as Prince Harry, but Grant surprisingly announced he had settled his long-running case against the publishers, quoting he did not want to accept the “enormous sum of money” he had been offered to settle – but that a trial was likely to prove “very expensive”. In his statement he went on to say “the rules around civil litigation mean that if I proceed to trial and the court awards … Continue reading
