COVID-19: moving house

As you may of heard, the government has now issued guidance for people buying and selling homes during the COVID-19 period. It might be the case that in some situations moving house may not be possible. That being said, where the property being purchased is vacant, the parties may continue with the transaction. Where the property being moved into is currently occupied, where possible the parties are being encouraged to delay … Continue reading

Here are a few points to help business leaders ensure their team are prepared, and to ensure directors comply with their ongoing directors’ duties and obligations:   If it is accurate that up to 80% of the UK population could be infected at any one time, it is not too far to say … Continue reading

Funding care – exploring the minefield

The crisis in social care funding has at last come near the top of the government’s “to-do list”. Sadly, this complex issue has been largely ignored for many years.  That is of little help if you have a loved one currently needing care or about to be in that situation.  It is heart breaking enough to confront the fact that your mother or father may no longer be able to look after themselves.  It can be hard to find the appropriate care without having the additional concern as to how the potentially enormous costs will be paid. The average costs of residential care in the UK in 2017/18 was over £32,000 per annum.  This rose to over £44,500 a year when nursing care was included.  These costs vary hugely across the country and indeed between individual care homes.
